Encounter for Popular Unity: constitutional process. A republic to change everything.

An act with social activists brings together the CUP and Barcelona en Comú (BeC)

Barcelona, October 10 (EFE).- Next Saturday at the Parc de la Ciutadella in Barcelona an act with social activists, among which the 'hacker' Simona Levi, reunites deputies and leading figures of CUP with representatives of Barcelona en Comú (BeC), such as the deputy mayor Jaume Asens.

The CUP and BeC participate next Saturday in this event organized jointly by political organizations, unions and social movements under the title "Encounter for Popular Unity: constitutional process. A republic to change everything."  

The meeting is structured around 24 debate workshops and among those invited to participate are the economist and professor at SOAS University of London Costas Lapavitsas, members or former members of the CUP such as David Fernandez, Anna Gabriel, Gabriela Serra, Sergi Saladié and Mireia Boya, activist and “hacker” Simona Levi, the deputy mayor of Barcelona Jaume Asens and activist Eva Fernandez. This Saturday the Parc de la Ciutadella reunites various political organizations, trade unions and social movements, among which are the CUP and members of Barcelona en Comú (BeC) to discuss how the new Catalan Republic should be. The meeting, called Encounter of Popular Unity, will consist of discussion forums on various topics in order to analyse the constitutional process and to develop a constitution of the people.

Through eight axles and 24 workshops, there will be discussed issues such as what should be the languages of the new Republic, the participation in decision-making policies, socioeconomic model and fiscal policy. The meeting titled "Encounter for Popular Unity: constitutional process. A republic to change everything" includes participant guests such as prominent economist and professor at SOAS University of London Costas Lapavitsas, the “hacker” Simona Levi, the representative of Bolivia's constitutional process Ana Teresa Morales Olivera and the representative of the Kurdish movement Tuncer Bakirhan.

Although not strictly an act of CUP, the Candidatura will be widely involved and encourages its members to participate. In fact, some of its strongest members will take part, including Anna Gabriel, Gabriela Serra, Mireia Boya and Sergi Saladié, as well as MPs Quim Arrufat and David Fernandez. However, they are not the only political representatives to attend. Also there to participate will be the Deputy Mayor and member of Barcelona en Comú, Jaume Asens.
